Empathize: Understanding User Needs and Business Objectivess

  • Discovery Workshop:
A discovery workshop was held with key stakeholders from teams, leagues, media, and betting companies. This workshop helped to gather business requirements, align objectives, and understand the constraints and expectations from each group.

  • User Testing Sessions:
Conducted in-depth, one-on-one user testing sessions with a diverse user base, including sports analysts, team managers, and media professionals. The purpose was to gather real-world feedback on the usability of the existing scoreboard widget, identifying specific pain points related to navigation, information overload, and real-time data accessibility.

  • Competitor Research:
Conducted thorough research on competing sports apps that could potentially integrate the scoreboard. This included analyzing user interfaces, feature sets, and user experiences offered by competitors, to identify industry best practices and opportunities for differentiation.

User testing findings

  • Complexity and Clutter: Users found the scoreboard too complex and cluttered, making it difficult to quickly find and interpret relevant data during live events.

  • Navigation Challenges: The existing navigation was not intuitive, causing delays in accessing critical information, which impacted real-time analysis.

These issues hampered the scoreboard’s effectiveness as a tool for real-time sports event analysis. The goal of the redesign was to simplify the interface, improve navigation, and make the tool more user-friendly and efficient for accessing relevant information quickly.

Define

Problem

The StatsPerform scoreboard widget suffers from information complexity, clutter, and non-intuitive navigation, which impede its effectiveness as a real-time sports event analysis tool.

Solution

To address the issues of information complexity, clutter, and non-intuitive navigation, the redesigned StatsPerform scoreboard widget simplifies data presentation, introduces an interactive dashboard with vertical sidebar navigation, and offers customizable options for clients. This approach prioritizes visual clarity and ensures mobile responsiveness, resulting in a more intuitive, user-friendly tool that supports efficient real-time sports event analysis.

Interactive Dashboard and side navigation

Following thorough competitive research, we proposed enhancing content visibility by introducing an interactive experience with vertical navigation on the left-hand sidebar.

Additionally, we integrated a menu and dashboard for swift access to all information.

The goal was to ensure a clear and intuitive layout, facilitating quick access to relevant information during live events.
